Terms of service.
These terms govern your use of BuyEnergyOnline.uk, operated by Telnergy Ltd (CRN 04576876). By using the site, you accept them.
1. Who we are
Telnergy Ltd (CRN 04576876), Hello House, 135 Somerford Road, Christchurch BH23 3PY, operates BuyEnergyOnline.uk. We are an Ofgem registered Third Party Intermediary (TPI), enrolled with the Dispute Resolution Ombudsman (ADR Ref: E3561).
2. The service
BuyEnergyOnline.uk provides a self-serve business energy comparison and switching service. We retrieve your energy supply data from ECOES (electricity) and Xoserve (gas) using your business postcode, present tariff quotes from participating suppliers, and facilitate a switch to your chosen tariff via a digital Letter of Authority (LOA).
The service is available to UK businesses with a commercial metered supply. It is not available to domestic customers.
3. Our fee
Our fee is a flat 1 penny per kWh, added to your unit rate by the supplier and shown as a separate line on your contract before you sign. There is no charge if you do not switch. There are no admin fees, no exit fees payable to Telnergy, and no charges beyond the disclosed 1p/kWh.
We earn the same fee whichever supplier you choose. We do not receive preferential commission from any supplier, and we do not operate a preferred-supplier shortlist.
4. Your Letter of Authority
By signing a Letter of Authority, you authorise Telnergy Ltd to:
- Retrieve your supply data from ECOES and Xoserve
- Obtain tariff quotes from energy suppliers on your behalf
- Submit your switch to your chosen supplier
- Correspond with suppliers about your supply on your behalf
The LOA does not authorise us to enter a contract on your behalf without your explicit approval of a specific tariff, nor to access your bank account or payment details.
5. Accuracy of information
You are responsible for ensuring that information you provide (business name, address, site details) is accurate. Telnergy relies on ECOES and Xoserve data for supply details; discrepancies between industry data and your actual consumption should be raised before a switch is confirmed.
6. Switching process
Switches typically complete within 4–6 weeks of LOA submission, subject to your contract end date and any objection from your current supplier. There is no interruption to your energy supply — same meter, different billing company.
If you are within a fixed-term contract, exit fees may apply from your current supplier. We will flag the position when you receive your quotes. Telnergy does not charge exit fees.
7. Limitations of liability
We take reasonable care to provide accurate quote information, but tariffs are subject to change by suppliers. A quote is indicative until confirmed in writing by the supplier. Telnergy is not liable for changes in tariff rates between quote and contract confirmation.
We are not liable for delays in the switching process caused by your current supplier, ECOES, Xoserve, or circumstances outside our reasonable control.
Nothing in these terms limits or excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot be limited by law.
8. Disputes
If you have a complaint about our service, contact us first at hello@buyenergyonline.uk. We will acknowledge within 5 working days and aim to resolve within 28 days.
If we cannot resolve your complaint, you may refer it to our Alternative Dispute Resolution provider: Dispute Resolution Ombudsman, ADR Ref: E3561.
9. Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. Any disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
10. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The current version is always at buyenergyonline.uk/terms. Continued use of the service after a change constitutes acceptance.
